Ad blocking on Android is the killer feature. Can’t possibly go into the YouTube app and watch there, it’s cancerous

Eh, it’s usually fixed pretty quickly. When it breaks, I just watch through Firefox with my ad blocker instead.
The YouTube app sucks, I’ve disabled it and intend to never use it again.

Exactly, in some contexts it is displayed like this to mitigate homograph attacks, where someone creates similar looking URLs for phishing purposes. Nothing shady about Punycode by itself, but it’s good to be aware of homograph attacks. Internationalized domain names (IDNs) are cool :)
