Does anyone have experience with OEM vs OEE windshields? Are they really that different to where the price difference ($300 vs $800 in my case) is justified?

I’ve heard different takes, ranging from “avoid OEE at all costs, it’s thinner and shaped differently” to “they’re the same glass, just one doesn’t have the Subaru print on it”.

Both are contract manufactured. One has better part logistics specifically for glass transportation and storage and with a more direct distribution chain. When it comes to OEE parts, the quality varies in general and you just need to do whatever research you can. I can’t say glass specifically, but I owned a body shop years ago and had an LKQ account. I could always make parts fit either way, so paying less for them was my top priority.

Thanks so much for the reply! That’s good info. The person at the shop mentioned the OEE I’d be getting comes from “Pilkington” which seems to be a reputable manufacturer. Honestly I may end up going with that.

The only time I ever went OEM was when I had no other option and that was rare. No worries.
