A panel of experts voted down a proposal to officially declare the start of a new interval of geologic time, one defined by humanity’s changes to the planet.

I’m seeing a few prominent climate scientists saying that they support the vote because the choice to use nuclear fallout as a boundary marker doesn’t correspond to the main change, and that the difference in carbon isotope concentration should be used instead.
