What are your interests? Why do you find yourself wanting to talk about toys? I feel like this would be a good way to engage the sub and hopefully get more posts.
(I browse by New, so that’s how I find myself here.)
Nevertheless, I do like toys anyway, and would like to see a community more active around them. I think they can be a fun more playful use of physical crafts to remind us that not everything needs to be a tool or serve some serious use.
Some toys are also a wild mix of art and engineering in themselves, which is cool to see. Yeah it may not have much of a use, but that makes it perfect for toys, where as long as it’s interesting or fun or both, that’s enough.
Totally agree. I recently found Wise Elk brick toys that have been engaging me at night, which for me serves the purpose of not looking at a screen and grounding myself with reality. Also love the mild-engineering I get to do and learn about.
I’ve gone too far with allowing myself to engage in unproductive behaviors (video games!), and physical toys are bringing me back to where I need to be. I lay a few layers of (real clay) bricks, get my hands dirty, and feel better than if I had spent twice the amount of time playing a video game.
