Walkabout Mini Golf is a VR game that somehow gave me hope for online games, especially in VR. One thing I don’t understand is how WMG is one of the only VR games whose player base isn’t as toxic as the vat of acid the Joker jumped into. It’s a night and day difference compared to games like HyperDash, a fast-paced competitive shooter whose lobbies are mostly filled with bigots and children. I don’t have any problems playing with 9-12 year olds, and I’m not going to bully someone for JUST being a kid. That’s stupid. But I guess that’s just par for the course with any free-to-play game. Still, WMG still has some bad eggs, without a doubt. My first ever online game in WMG was a peaceful casual game with a dude who was a father living all the way in Europe. Not everyone in WMG or any game is going to be this nice, and the internet as a whole, with its 5+ billion users, leads to almost endless possibilities (some better than others, lol).
wfriedma: It’s because you are stuck on a course with someone 1 on 1 with no buffer person or teammates. It makes for people being very polite. Otherwise you have to be aggressive and stay aggressive for like 20 minutes with someone you’ve pissed off. It’s too stressful to do when no behind a keyboard or teammates to verbally high five with
Turndownforwhot: What the fuck are you trying to say lol
supernova9267: I’m just saying that the game has a surprisingly tame playerbase lol sorry if the pacing in this post is bad, I wrote it in like 2-3 minutes
Mister_Brevity: It’s golf, hyped up adhd children stay away lol
supernova9267: True lol
stefanopolis: It’s truly a blessing for us old fogies. Walkabout is zen af.
_dbkmr: Every now and then I talk my kids into playing it. It’s like watching someone retrieve an object from under the couch with a broomstick. They quit after a couple holes and I’m like “Yeah, probably for the best.” lol
IdeologyNeed: I agree, anyone I encountered was so chill. This accompanied with with the beautiful visuals in the game (using the quest games optimizer) makes the game so calming and really makes the game stand out as most games available are high paced experiences.
ManhattanTime: I’ve only played it Single Player. I play it nearly every night after 6 rounds of Thrill Of The Fight. I wouldn’t have the energy to talk to anybody in Walkabout.
Love this game but only ever play alone or with a single friend. I’ll have to look into trying out stranger danger put put
Whatever801: It’s chill until you accidentally hit the ball when you’re trying to set up the shot
Agitated_Ad6191: Turn on the option in settings that prevents just that. Problem fixed!
Zodasaur: This game costs money and kids don’t have much money.
bipolaridiot_: Everyone I’ve talked to on WMG has been super down to earth and easy to chat with. I’ve had a surprising number of deep conversations with people who are more than double my age, and it always feels like chatting with old friends who I haven’t spoken to in a long time. You can’t get that anywhere else in VR
JustCallMeTere: I only play games with my chill group of friends. The internet is full of hostile people especially in gaming.
vypergts: Wait, this game has multiplayer? Can you co-op search for hidden balls?
scarfilm: Don’t forget to fly! I just discovered this feature and it’s at least as much fun as the actual game.
NewShadowR: I honestly think it’s a game that I’d rather play alone. Unless you want to chat with someone and you’re feeling lonely or something. I usually turn my mic off in these games, only turn it on in coop games.
Hvarfa-Bragi: I’ve only played online once so far.
It was me and another dude, both with open mics, neither of us talked. It was… Chill.
NewShadowR: If you have an open mic and never talk, what happens is you have awkward grunts and "oh shit"s go through the mic from time to time when you hit a terrible shot lmao.
ALCATryan: Sounds hilarious and scarily realistic
SnowflakeMods2: That’s called ‘male bonding’.
