Valve fixing EGS on Linux is exactly why im OK with them getting a bigger cut than EGS: they actually build support systems around things instead of just being the point of sale and then disappearing.
Generally, they offer a giant infrastruture that no other game selling platform offers:

- community hub for sharing user content
- inbuilt forum
- mod database
- better shop visibility through intelligent algorithms
- community events like NEXT fest
