I can successfully start the client and go through champion selection, but when the game is about to begin only a black screen is present and after a while a pop-up saying Failed to connect, retrying or reconnecting from the client does not seem to fix the issue. Is anyone else experiencing the same issue here or know a fix?
I use lutris and recently updated to the lutris-ge-lol-8.7.1 which seems to be the latest wine version available.

Nevermind, I had Cloudflare warp running in the background which looks like causing the issue, after shutting it down, the game connected as usual.
