    Explanation: In popular myth, the Romans salted Carthage’s land after destroying the city in the Third Punic War.

    In reality, there’s no evidence for this ever happening. It seems to be made up whole-cloth from the 19th century.

    But it’s funny.

      While I’m sure folks appreciate the context, I think the appropriate response to this post is, “Too soon.”

      That said, I would very highly recommend the Fall of Civilizations documentary.
