Dev will move on to something new.
It’s a bit of a shame, but I get it. It’s good that developers know when to walk away from a job well done.
My own take, coming from tabletop D&D, is that I do find the addition of new classes/subclasses/races/rulesets to be exciting, and I think Baldur’s Gate 3 would be a good fit for that same sort of model. Play the game in new ways, basically.
If the modding tools are good, I look forward to what the community ends up adding.
Forgotten Realms lore is awesome but so is Divinity lore. D&D is popular and its popularity helped the game too but I think their (Divinity’s) combat and character development is even better so I really can’t wait to see what they will make in Divinity OS 3. They are now acclaimed top studio and their future games (like Div3) won’t be just RPG niche for fans, they will attract new players. It looks like they want to take on a another IP before Div3, I wonder what it’ll be and if it’s in the same format (turn-based combat RPG) or sth cometely different. I have no doubts it’ll be great, Larian is my favourite studio nowadays.
