Is there any way to block a community from a server. It looks like it’s only possible on a user-level, unless I’m missing something it’s not in the documentation on join-lemmy
For the server admins wondering, yes it is possible. One of the devs replied on github: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/3113
I hope that this will result in less futulitarianism & quality control, you’re stepping into a blurred line (Censorship).
It goes without saying that blocking should be kept on both levels, as a victim of doxing moderators are slow to react (To put it lightly) that I stopped relying on them, while I can do mitigation the rest of the community has to deal with those types of individuals.
An invitation would be appreciated by anyone who builds a community that values its users.
I just want to be prepared for when people start creating communities like “c*ntown” or whatever n-word named community on remote instances. If that’s censorship I’m totally fine with it
Not what I had in mind when I said futilitarianism, in that context documentation should be made available for public awareness to be cautious.
Transparency & framing is key here X Community is blocked for Y, Z reason (A public list).
Gender/Race was always used throughout history as a scapegoat for the pursuit of power & undermining stability.
