A former teacher of mine recalled how when he was a student in the 1980s, he watched this film with the local priest. His face grew increasingly red over the course of the film and when the final crucifixion scene with the singing was on screen, the priest finally snapped, jumped up from his chair and angrily slammed the VCR onto the floor.

I hope your friend immediately said: “That movie was good enough for Jehovah!”

I’m glad I already have my beard at hand…

If it were Monday already, I’d call for you to get stoned. Because by then, weed will be legal in my country.

When I was a kid watching Monty Python, I never “got” the Spanish Inquisition skit. I still thought it was hilarious, but I had never heard the expression “I didn’t expect the Spanish Inquisition” as an exasperated response to intrusive questioning from somebody.

Ironically, the real Spanish Inquisition sent letters to communities and individuals months ahead of time announcing their pending arrival and intent to dig up shit. And they didn’t bring comfy chairs or soft pillows!

Spanjsh inquisition was quite scary. Above the average violent tools at their disposal, they used many manipulative tactics that would probably go beyond that mkultra stuff for what they had at the time. If they needed a criminal they knew how to make one of a honest person.
