“Look it up on Netflix” is the phrase everybody’s heard, how do you deal with that?

I’ve done a mixture of different approaches, either by getting the film somewhere else (legally, of course) or just saying I don’t use X service.

    “Thanks for the recommendation”

And then proceed to look it up wherever I use (sonarr etc). No point bashing someone for using netflix / sub services.

Yeah, I don’t bash them or anything, their choice to use a subscription service. It works for a lot of people. If it’s someone I’m pretty close to, I can turn a Netflix or a Spotify recommendation into a bit of a joke.

You can check “JustWatch” or similar pages in case is somewhere else. If not…well you already know which is the only option apart from subscribing, piracy.

I mean for people that don’t want to deal with piracy they can take note of the show/movie and when they have plenty of content pending to watch sub for a month or two and watch it.

Most of the time buying the content itself is not worth it, I mean I guess you can sell it back if is a bluray or similar but…

I mean my personal issue with it is that a lot of content is not that good to be like I will rewatch that and wanting a copy. Like buying a tv show season just to find out is not your thing… sucks even if you still can sell it again.

For some stuff I would be tempted to buying a bluray or so but yeah not like the old days when it was the only way.

That’s a huge benefit of digital content: you can just delete the file and move on, or change the channel.

Buying a few seasons of a show you didn’t like and then having the boxsets laying around sucked.

I don’t miss a stack of stuff, digital stuff is good (it’s all just the same data anyway).

But subscriptions, rentals and other crap, nah. If I like something, I want to archive it for future use. Heck even if I don’t like something I wanna have the option.

it’s kinda easy for me because i live in a less developed area so things (including tech) are very slowly coming here, most people still see little to no value in digital goods let alone subscription lol.

I don’t have Netflix, I’ll just sail the seas to get it. Do you want to know how to do it? I could teach you.

Thanks, but I’m not a fan of paying monthly for a service that’s so crap I’d maybe use it once a year.
