From Raven Ridge Wildlife Center
On December 28th, 2023, we received a screech owl named Scarlett who had suffered a severe eye injury after being attacked by a bird.
Scarlett had been living in the same nest box for several years and had raised multiple clutches. After a long rehabilitation and medical treatment, we were happy to be able to release her back into Joann and Brian’s property.
It was a pleasant surprise to discover that Scarlett was quite popular as there was a camera installed in her nest box and many people, including friends, family, and children, were watching her.
As a rehabilitation center, our goal is to raise, rehabilitate, and release these animals, and we don’t usually get to see them again. However, we have been keeping an eye on Scarlett and we are excited to share that she has laid 4 eggs and is preparing to raise another clutch.

That was a heck of a booboo! I’m glad they were able to help her so she still has full vision and that she was able to go back to her home and make some new owls for us to love!
Good luck mamma!
