Taiwan on Thursday condemned China as “shameless” after Beijing’s deputy ambassador to the United Nations thanked the world for its concern about a strong earthquake on the island.
China claims democratically-governed Taiwan as its own territory and also claims the right to speak for it on the international stage, to the fury of Taipei given Beijing’s communist government has never ruled the island and has no say in how it chooses its leaders.

Okay I understand that China wants to believe they own Taiwan but this is just a dick move.

It fits the model of a long con, doesn’t it?
- Control the information and education available to a large population.
- Consistently spread whatever fiction you want, no matter how absurd.
- Make lots of babies within your area of control.
- Continue for decades.
- Reap the benefits of a significant part of the world’s population having grown into adulthood knowing no other “truth”.
