    Reminds me of the show upload. That show started as this future Utopia and turned into a dystopia the moment you saw the wider world and how the technology was being used

    VR dev: Guilty, I’ve had this thought. Wasting power to play games or just chill in vr is… suboptimal. especially while we still have an ecosystem we can enjoy in many places.

    These box screens are real it’s called The Cave, I’ve seen one in person and it’s actually a very convincing 3D effect with the tracking and they render it for your perspective

      for a single user, unless used with polarizing shutter glasses, then subtract 50% brightness.

      it’s an interesting use of the tech but having worked with both this, projection based AR (think early castAR/tilt5) and vr for the last decade, I gotta say, it’s use cases are slim compared to the results you’d get with other stuff. Apparently oil companies LOVED it, it was very popular in geological survey and similar industries.
