I’ve been playing the original again and it’s the first time since the big backwards update from Below Zero, and for the most part I’m appreciating the improvements. But I’m wondering if anyone has noticed any weirdness with progression now? It’s hard for me to tell since playing it after you know everything is so much different, but it really feels like they piled on too many blueprints right around when you get the all purpose circular room. Suddenly I have all these rooms and glass options on top of the normal game progression, and it sort of feels…dirty? Like I got end game content too soon? It’s like there’s barely anything to unlock anymore and I haven’t even made it to the lost river. I think I wish they put a little more thought into the timing of dropping.tvose blueprints, or maybe even hiding them in the game world.

Is there anything you’ve noticed different in the game that you like playing after the update? That you didn’t like? It does run smoother in general so that’s nice, way less popping!

Thanks for reading ✌️

I just finished my second playthrough of the game, 5 years after finishing it the first time. To be honest, there was a lot about the game I had completely forgotten about, but I still enjoyed it just as much as the first time. The progression overall felt fine to me. I personally enjoyed having all the customization options with the habitats, though I see your point with how quickly the progression jumps to the end game. To me, the primary enjoyment I get out of the game is the exploration of the unknown, going around to different biomes to find the materials I needed and just enjoying the beauty of the planet. It’s definitely one of my favorite games of all time and one that I will continue coming back to in the future!

Now I’m gonna start on Below Zero, because I haven’t played through that one yet.

I’ve only ever played on 2.0, so it’s really interesting to hear about the differences. I think your points are fair, finding blueprints stopped feeling like a big deal after the first ten or so hours. I thought that was intentional so I could focus on the final parts of the story. I ended up beelining the last third of the game, which was pretty fun! Very intense.

But I see how that would be frustrating on a second playthrough!
