    It’s honestly amazing how much we depend on symbiotic relationships, even down to gut microbiota affecting mental health according to recent research. Truly no man is an island, or is at least a very diversely populated one. It’s also cool to have a potentially symbiotic way to deal with a problem like cholesterol because when those methods work they are often less invasive/disruptive.

    The article identifies the bacteria responsible for this, but only proposed fecal transplant treatment or possible future probiotic treatment. Curious to learn where it’s naturally occurring, I found this:

    Oscillibacter species have now been isolated from the rumen of cattle in Korea and from the alimentary canal of clams in Japan.
