I have a confession to make. Sometimes when I’m cooking something in the oven/air fryer and it says to turn at half way… I don’t. And it’s fine.

I usually turn things in the air fryer since the heat comes from the top and I don’t want it to burn, but in the oven I only turn things if I’m particularly worried about coming then right, like a roast chook or something

I’m the opposite. I generally turn things in the oven because where they sit on the metal tray (particularly if there is some oil) tends to get hotter and so it is more evenly cooked/browned when I turn it. Whereas the air fryer has air movement all around it so tends to cook more evenly, so I only turn that if I put it on a solid surface that restricts airflow.

Feels like I shouldn’t have woken up this morning. The state of the world at the moment is indeed grim.

With the Bondi incident yesterday Iran has launched a drone attack on Israel.

It’s bound to escalate ever further now.

I don’t mind reading or watching news.

It’s all the Russian shills and the idiots ( also many well meaning but misinformed people) they have brainwashed that annoy me.

quite a bit of drug taking in the old days

"Yet marked I where the bolt of Cupid fell.

It fell upon a little western flower,

Before, milk-white, now purple with love’s wound,

            And maidens call it “love-in-idleness.”

Fetch me that flower; the herb I showed thee once.

The juice of it on sleeping eyelids laid

Will make or man or woman madly dote

Upon the next live creature that it sees.

Fetch me this herb, and be thou here again

Especially the limited-chance ones, or the ones where you have to wait on someone to respond, where a non-response could either be denial, them being busy for a few weeks, or your e-mail having been forgotten/buried.

I feel like I have wasted this whole weekend. Been feeling flat and neauseus and have not been able to stop falling asleep. I know it’s stress and a few digestion things I can’t get right but I am sick of crashing when I finally have a day to myself. I looking around at the cleaning and washing and week prep I have to get done now and feeling anxious. Sometimes my body and mind are not my friends.

Thank you. I needed that permission. I ordered some indian takeaway which will cover dinner and tomorrow’s lunch. Did a couple of plant chores and the one load of washing to get me through the week. If I can empty the dishwasher I will call it a day.

Okay, need to news detox. I usually stay away, but I have just gone down the rabbit hole. A bit too much to bear. That said, extra squeeze your loved ones.

Now, might be time to get a delicious brunch.

Unfortunately I was waiting for my regular shows to be in but they overrided the broadcast to do it so I had no choice but to have all the news on :(

Just waiting for all my footy stuff to start today to balance it all out.

I don’t really keep up with the major affairs happening if they don’t directly affect me. I eventually do do a deep dive on them, but i don’t until things calm down and I can actually look into things without being yelled at about them. I didn’t look into Russia/Ukraine for 7 months after the war began, and I’ve got zero clue what’s happening in Israel/Palestine.

It’s a little bit ignorant, and pisses most people on both sides off, but it’s what I have to do to keep from spiralling and obsessing over the news. If it hasn’t happened in Australia and doesn’t directly affect me or people I care about, I’m not going to bother with it until I can look into it without people twisting it to seem like the world’s ending

Am a bit bored so checking out things on YouTube. Have seen apartment therapy and now watching a couple of tourists talking about Melbourne. Fitzroy mostly, and they’re making a fuss of Lune. Are the croissants really that good?!

Now they’re faffing about in the botanic gardens, to the tune of laidback jazz.

E: that got boring, so now it’s Tracy Marks talking about lsd trials for anxiety. I reckon I’d be too anxious about the lsd to take it.

        I can’t say I’ve ever watched it. I bet it’s fun though.

I’m watching the second American season of Love on the Spectrum and it’s really heartwarming like the others

      Wine!!

Also, isn’t it crazy that gravity caused time dilation!? A clock on an object on an elliptical orbit (i.e not circular) will tick slowrr the closer it is to the body it is orbiting, and tick faster the further away it is.

I’ve been watching cinema therapy talk about the Twilight movies. I never knew they were that bad.

It’s amusing tho watching Robert Pattinson mess around with different acting styles just for fun.

Story question. What is a 100 yr old vampire doing going to high school?

There’s a rather fun fantasy book by Pamela Dean called Tam Lin, where the baddies are a couple of people from Shakespeare’s troupe of actors who now live in Minnesota, where they go to college. Because that’s a protected space where they can learn about the modern world without too many consequences for making mistakes due to ignorance. Perhaps the same applies to the 100 yr old vampire. Though 100 years is approximately 1920 these days, which is not all that different from today.

    Pet shampoo rage

Trying to find an unscented pet shampoo is near impossible. They all have increasingly elaborate fragrances which are unnecessary, irritating, and uncomfortable for animals - especially asthmatic ones like mine. (Even ear cleaning washes that go inside the delicate ear canals are highly perfumed.)

Bonus points for essential oils and botanicals that are actually toxic to cats and sometimes also dogs 🙄 Lavender. Tea tree oil. Peppermint. Eucalyptus. Grapefruit oil. Orange oil (basically citrus oils in general). Patchouli, which contains phenols. ALOE VERA. ST JOHN’S WORT.

Edit: The Aloveen the vet gave me also contains Aloe vera. side eye

To be fair they’re mostly for dogs but there isn’t much out there I’d risk using on a cat and some of those ingredients are toxic to dogs as well.

I found one unscented option - Dermacare Natural Shampoo - and was about to buy it until I googled Glydant (DMDM hydantoin). It’s an antimicrobial preservative that releases formaldehyde and was the subject of a lawsuit against Tresemme. Suspected in multiple cases of allergic reactions/dermatitis and hair loss. It’s not the only formaldehyde releasing preservative but a commonly used one in makeup, shampoo, lube etc.

Yeah nah get fucked. I’m not risking it. I don’t feel like dragging my cat to emergency for an asthma attack, allergic reaction, or poisoning because she licked some shonky product off her fur. Hypoallergenic dish soap or pure unscented bar soap it is.

    Cat rambles

Melbcat got seen yesterday due to crying, she looked pretty good healthwise so she’s just going to get the ear wash twice a week to get rid of any discomfort from the ear drops residue. She still cried again at 3am so I’m not sure what’s up. I’m meant to also wash the greasy smears of eardrops off the fur around her ears but the pet shampoo they gave me is quite scented and she’s asthmatic :/

I might wait and ring them on Monday and ask about that. My instincts are screaming at me not to use it, especially so close to her face and sponging with a facewasher… I do not want to be dragging her back to emergency because she’s having trouble breathing. The vet has told me not to use human shampoo even though I have some of the unscented A’kin left… I’d much rather use a single drop of unscented dish soap in a bowl of warm water and wipe off as much grub as I can with that.

It’s greasy otherwise I’d use plain water.

(I do sometimes question the vets because for years they questioned her pain until the causes were found, and years ago they wanted me to keep her on food she turned out to be allergic to. And a little while ago they did send me off with an antibiotic in the Amoxicillin family because they forgot to put her allergy to that on file. So I do hold up and check about things like this.)

Oh yeah and my current stick vacuum is now having issues with clipping the canister back on after emptying so I did just order the vacuum cleaner I had my eye on. I’ll possibly still use the crappy one til it dies. Maybe for when I drop the next jar of instant coffee or some kind of gross mess
