Still think the title is within reach honestly, we shouldn’t be giving up just cuz there’s been a setback. Definitely shouldn’t be clearing the stadium like those people did yesterday, that was horrendous.
I concur, very easy to get caught up in the motion. Gotta support the team!
Yep. I contend that if the crowd weren’t absolute babies at the first sniff of of stumbling in all of 2024, we could’ve come back. Having the fans, who have otherwise been so good the past two years, walking out like that would’ve been quite demoralising
ngl while i do think we should have played better and stuff, it does leave a sour taste in my mouth that they basically let City win while playing like that against us…
that being said, still a good chunk of season left to go. We’ll do the best we can and that’s enough.
The game is done. All we can do now is look forward and hope they learn and improve
Starting to worry a bit about the radio silence re: extending Jorginho
That will be decided by whether we can complete the midfielder signing. Partey will likely be gone too.
Hopefully the LB pecking order is now beyond doubt.
I genuinely don’t understand why Zinchenko is starting ahead of Tomiyasu
I was reading an article published by The Athletic, written by the people of gunnerblog and they had this to say about him -
At times last season, Zinchenko seemed to give Arsenal an extra man, moving untracked into midfield to create overloads. When the opposition did follow him, it left Gabriel Martinelli one-on-one against his full-back.
But tactical innovations do not retain the element of surprise for long in the Premier League. Opposition analysts are now well aware of Zinchenko’s party trick. For a long time, the good he offered Arsenal comfortably outweighed the bad. It now feels as if that balance may be beginning to shift.
There are even signs he is becoming less essential to Arsenal’s build-up. Last season, he comfortably led the team for successful passes which end in the final third per 90 minutes, averaging 22. This season he has been superseded by both Jorginho and Martin Odegaard (both 23).
That sounds about right. For his country, he’s a number ten and for us, we’re asking for a whole different set of skills of which he falls short. We’re all kinda hoping that Timber can be the missing link and finally lock down that left back position because even in terms of what Zinchenko offers going forward, it’s not enough, especially right now while his form is in the mud and his confidence is low, causing him to give the ball away cheaply and defensively, he’s just not the man of the moment enough.
As we start to look beyond this season, both Zinchenko and Jesus should be listening for offers because neither should be starting many games for us next season if any at all.
A fit Lokonga would have been a better backup for Declan than that number 5 guy
And Vieira must feel absolutely useless these days.
