sorry for wording the title so badly. I realized on 3 different occasions today that googling something showed me reddit as top results but when clicking on the links, the communities were down (obviously). Problem is, the questions I had were pretty specific (jellyfin related) and I couldnt find answers anywhere else. so how do you guys handle this ?

Weird coincidence but I also had specific Jellyfin-related questions today. Should we start a community about it? :)

I‘m afraid I don‘t know what you mean by „archived link“, english is not my first language. Could you please explain?

I don’t think this works on mobile, but on a desktop click the meatball menu next to the link, click the arrow for more options and click “cached”

My bad cached link. And in the future I’d use something like this - this to redirect to Libreddit

Basically, you can check around the link generated by Google, there is a vertical 3 dot icon for more options.(only on desktop site) when you click it opens a panel on the side, to can then see the bottom and click the “cached” page. This world for anytime a website is down, the website no longer exist, or in our current case, to not visit actual Reddit.

Omg I could kiss you. Reddit has been an excellent bullshit filter for google but the blackouts made it tough.

Had something similar yesterday. Was debugging some Sonarr problem and pretty much all the links were disabled subreddits.

It’s just life. I click on the links and read the posts usually. I like Lemmy more than I like Reddit and as such have been here a lot more actively, but ultimately that doesn’t mean I’m going to shun a useful source of information.

I usually find what I’m looking for on the internet archive.

If the page is not archived you are shit out of luck.

You can ask in Jellyfin’s forums or IRC Matrix room. It’s not as convenient but it will help those looking for help later.
