Sure. I used a lightbox with a blackout curtain (sound flasher than it really is; it’s a cheap foldable plastic lightbox that has a few coloured inserts and led lights around the side and top. (I paid about 15€ for it). I put in the black felt insert as not to get any external reflections. You could do the same with a carboard box with the inside painted black). Placed the tablet inside (Was an iPad mini thing) and put some images on full brightness and full screen.

I used a Sony A7 iii camera with a Sony 90mm Macro lens on a tripod. As I wanted the bulb to fill the frame I was quite close to the subject and wanted everything in focus so stopped right down to F20, ISO 100 and exposed for the blacks which gave me an exposure time of 6 seconds. (I am sure the same kind of results could be achieved with a more open aperture and less exposure but I didn’t have a whole lot of time.)

I increased the luminosity and saturation in lightroom and lowered the shadows to make it “pop”. Then spent twenty minutes removing all the dust spots.

      Hope this helps!

Thank you very much. Yes it’s mine… I did several with different reflected images. Things I learnt - remove all dust and when you think you have removed all dust dust another 3 times. :-) It’s dead easy to do and a good project for a rainy day. This was my first go and will do some more soon.

I enjoy messing about with photography have some other plays I intend to post in the future such as water drops, splash, etc.

      Another from the same shoot:

The dust thing makes sense. Again, beautiful photo! Thanks for sharing!

Many thanks LD and thanks for asking. Made me smile. Lol not too bad today… Very beardy but pretty chilled for a Friday. Kids and wife call me grumps as every so often I need to go and hide in the virtual man cave in my head to sort myself out a bit. :-)

Specifically, an led light bulb designed to emulate the aesthetic and glow of a traditional bulb. They’re either really nice and a great buy, or super cheap and very dim, and there is no in-between lmao.

Never switched it on… bought it specifically to experiment and try this out. :-)

I understand completely but unfortunately the title “Philips eco glow e65 lit by laying on an iPad Pro 128gb taken with Godox lighting on a Sony A7 iiii with Sony G-Master 90mm and Sandisk extreme Pro sd card” seemed a bit overkill.

But you forgot to tell us what RAW/editing software you used, the computer you used to upload, and the beverage that kept you alert and refreshed throughout the whole process!

On a more serious note, really neat picture! I think it would be super cool to try this with a “real” (incandescent) Edison bulb, although perhaps the bulb isn’t as smooth on those, which might look less cool. But it would get extra points from me for the old tech/new tech aspect.

          Lolol…

This was my first attempt; on another comment I added a couple more images from the shoot. It’s dead easy to set up (if anyone wants to know more on the set up am more than happy to help).

Different bulbs would be a great change. Am in the process of moving house but once get settled I want to try it with different glass items such as wine glasses, vase, etc…

Or maybe it’s Macs from the critically acclaimed documentary Mac and Me, either way it’s branding all the way down!
