Almost the weekend! Any words of wisdom for fighting the weekend urges?

We may be anonymous strangers on the internet, but we have one thing in common. We may be a world apart, but we’re here together!

Welcome to the 24 hour pledge! I’m pledging myself to not drinking today, and invite you to do the same.

Maybe you’re new to c/stop drinking and have a hard time deciding what to do next. Maybe you’re like me and feel you need a daily commitment or maybe you’ve been sober for a long time and want to inspire others.

It doesn’t matter if you’re still hung over from a three day bender or been sober for years, if you just woke up or have already completed a sober day. For the next 24 hours, let’s not drink alcohol!

Had some really strong cravings after my partner and I started jogging again this past week. Broke down and bought a 12 pack OF NON ALCOHOLIC BUDWEiSer (hehe) which tasted amazing and didn’t give either of us the buzz we used to reward ourselves with the last time we were exercising regularly. Can’t believe i have been sober for well over a year, never thought I could be living the life I am. IWNDWYT!

I’m not drinking with you all today. I had amazing client sessions, and that’s all I need to feel great right now.

Suggestions for cravings: go to the gym/exercise, go for a hike/walk and get out into nature, go see a movie in the theater, find a new shop that sells stuff you are interested in and go explore, buy a new board/card game and play it with partner and or friends, do the housework you have been neglecting 😬, see if there are any local concerts and grab some tickets, occupy your mouth with your favorite drink or snack, go volunteer somewhere like the humane society and meet new people, pick up a new hobby like pickleball or frisbee golf, start reading a new book, go test drive a nice car, put on some sunscreen and bug repellant and just go pass out at a local park for a few hours, go to some local thrift stores, get on Nextdoor and respond to some local help wanted posts and make a bit of extra money, go geocaching, wash your car and detail the interior, go to the local library and ask a librarian for book suggestions, find a local casual sports club like softball and join up, go to that local restaurant you’ve keep meaning to try for the past three years
