My subtitles! I can’t hear without my subtitles!
Subtitles are a great example of an adaptation that helps more than (in this case auditory) disabled people.
When I had small children I stopped watching anything that wasn’t subtitled because I couldn’t control my noise environment. Either too loud to hear when the children were playing or had to keep the noise down when they were sleeping.
It gave me a great appreciation for assistive technology in general.

Why the heck you still watching tv with commercials?

An excellent example of the curb cut effect: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curb_cut_effect
Besides, it helps a lot when voiceover is in a language you are learning or can’t comprehend by hearing well enough (like Trainspotting)
Or when they speak in a weird accent. Looking at you, Spain, and your weird c and z sounding like th.
Well, every country has its own set of incomprehensible pronunciations ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It saves me about 75% of rewinding 10 seconds. Which, BTW, Netflix is trash at being able to do reliably.
I honestly watch most things with subtitles, as it helps me process the information better, so this is very relatable

Good luck with that attitude.
