    For me, it’s like putting an image of a trafficked sex slave on the cover of a women’s-rights magazine. It’s so wrong. Behind that glossy cover is an abject tale of an animal’s life of deprivation, living in filth in cramped quarters.

    You can’t really put it more starkly than that. And “nature” documentaries have been doing the same thing literally since the beginning. Most famously being Disney’s “White Wilderness,” which (fittingly for this website), started the myth of lemmings committing mass suicide.
