    Will happen to Lemmy soon enough. Lenny has many of the same features as reddit. Advertisers won’t overlook it should it get popular enough.

    Edit: actually a lot of what’s on here is already advertising for games and movies.

    I was kinda creeped out when I tried searching “best mini fridge reddit”

    Top results led to the sub r/techask which looks legit but if you look at any of the comments making recommendations the users are deleted or suspended. It’s super sketchy. It’s going to become incredibly hard if not impossible to use the internet without some kind of ai tool to sift through all the bs

    I always do a double take when people are surprised about this kind of thing. Does no one here remember how much the Reddit owners and admins absolutely hate the users and mods? They are gleefully selling those people out. Go back and read some of the admin announcement threads when there was drama, they fervently hated us all.
