omg, don’t get me started! The pirates were sooooo interesting! They were revolutionary for their time. One of the things they would do is assault slave ships and free the people that were enslaved. Then, those people could join the pirate ranks. They formed a democratic republic in the Bahamas. Then, individual ships would elect Captains. Outside of live combat, the Captain could be replaced by a simple majority vote at any time. The majority of them really preferred to avoid hurting others, so they tried to employ fear tactics that would cause the ships being assaulted to surrender without a fight. One time, a group of them mounted a ship completely naked except for their weapons. The other ship was so terrified, they surrender without any fight. Can you imagine a pack of pirates mounting your ships ready to fight completely naked?? lol
I hear even today, the best way to get out of a fight is to strip naked so the other person thinks you’re insane.
This is one of those overlaps with ADHD, right?

Golden Age of Piracy
Just curious but what kind of Piracy? Pirate Piracy or movie/music/game/etc Piracy? Whatever it is I’m interested.
iirc, the Golden Age of Piracy refers to the period when pirates had a lot of “business” opportunities in the Caribbean, both because the European powers didn’t have enough control yet and because they thought it was a good idea to hire many of those pirates to attack their geopolitical enemies.
But it could also be a One Piece reference.
My first assumption was related to pirating media. Then One Piece. Never considered it was actually about the actual historical era.
Probably movies, series and videogames in general, because AAA companies give a shitty service nowadays
