Trump now has one strike left before being sent to the clink for contempt.

After his 10th violation of the gag order, they’re literally talking about sending him to a local holding cell inside the courthouse for…the duration of lunch break.

I wish I was joking. They’re saying they’ll consider putting him in a time out if he violates the gag order an 11th time.

Meanwhile, if I were to walk past the judge and tell him to grow some fucking balls, I’d be spending at least one night at the gray bar motel.

11 at a minimum. He’s already hit 10 and nothing has happened.

        3 strikes and you’re out

        One

        Two

        Two and a half

        Two and three quarters…

The Judge is being very careful not to give Trump’s team the ability to have the judgement thrown out on appeal. There’s also the consideration of when you jail a former President of The United States you then have to make accommodation for their Secret Service detail, which would preclude incarceration in anything but a private facility.

The Judge is being very careful not to give Trump’s team the ability to have the judgement thrown out on appeal.

It’s going to be anyway. And if Trump gets another Trump-friendly panel of judges, they’re going to find a reason to throw the appeal out no matter what. I very seriously doubt “the defendant was jailed after violating a gag order and making threats against members of the court almost a dozen times” is going to be grounds for a mistrial in any courtroom that didn’t have their minds made up already. <coughCannoncough>

There’s also the consideration of when you jail a former President of The United States you then have to make accommodation for their Secret Service detail, which would preclude incarceration in anything but a private facility.

Then the Secret Service should have been making contingency plans for this scenario the second charges were announced. I understand they have a job to do and all that, but they’re also human beings with functioning brains. They should have damn well known that the chances of Trump being jailed are very real, and should have known that Trump isn’t going to abide by any court rulings if jail as a consequence is off the table. If the Secret Service hasn’t already figured out what they’ll do if Trump is jailed, then the Secret Service should be the ones with some explaining to do, because Secret Service protection shouldn’t mean that the person being protected gets to do whatever they want without consequence.

have to make accommodation for their Secret Service detail

Would they? The SS are beholden to protect former presidents but are state prisons beholden by law to let them?

no, which is why no court will be sentencing Trump to local, state or federal prison, and most likely will end up being house arrest, not in small part due to the fact he’s entitled to secret service protection

Put him in a utility shed just off the NJ turnpike.

Those are usually fenced off with a single access gate. He can have a bucket to shit in, and the USSS can have a nice double-wide parked just outside the fence.

Guards and cops are his supporters. They’d end up treating him like a king and bringing him McDonald’s everyday, soft linens and a million pillows

don’t get me wrong, I’d prefer he ended up on rikers with a 400lb roommate, but…

I’ll take stuck in a cell in NYC forced to eat lukewarm burgers from the guards until his coronary happens.
