Article by GameDeveloper: The CEO of game publisher Tiny Build has boasted that his company uses ChatGPT in order to surveil their employees in order to find what amounts to grounds to fire them. CEO backpedals and claims his statements were “hypothetical”.
And here’s the nth example I’ve seen today of AI being used to ruin the fun jobs rather than automate the tedious ones.

At this point “Luddite” is a compliment.
I mean… They were right about machinery replacing them and creating inferior goods. Now people are concerned that “AI” will replace them and create inferior works, which capitalists have been taking every opportunity to do.
Yeah, it is really just another step in the never-ending march of capitalism: People being replaced by machines owned by plutocrats in order to maximise their profits.
My conspiracy theory on this: part of me thinks its because if the corporate owners of America actually automate the boring jobs, then that means normal people would have time to finally relax and maybe realize how fucked up our country is, and also have the time to more effectively help worker movements.
But if you automate the fun and creative stuff like art, use AI tools to more or less break people… it’s easier to control a bunch of tired and sad people than it is to control people in a normal state.
Worth reading the article — really disturbing
Equating toxicity to burnout is misguided at best, but what’s more concerning is the fact that, earlier on in the talk, Nichiporchik spoke about removing problematic players from the company to increase productivity.
So:
- burn out your workers because of your inability to identify structural issues in your company
- spy on your workers to identify those who are struggling the most
- accuse them of toxicity by blackbox ML metrics
- fire them and hire some new meat for the grinder
