Governor Greg Abbott of Texas issued a full pardon on Thursday to a former US army sergeant convicted of murder for fatally shooting an armed demonstrator in 2020 during nationwide protests against police violence and racial injustice.

Abbott announced the pardon just minutes after the Texas board of pardons and paroles disclosed it had made a unanimous recommendation that Daniel Perry be pardoned and have his firearms rights restored. Perry has been held in state prison on a 25-year sentence since his conviction in 2023.

You have got to be fucking kidding me. This shit stain actively planned to go shoot someone, said he could get away with it by claiming self defense, then went and did it. There was no evidence produced beyond his own claim that he was threatened, and several eyewitness accounts contradicted that claim. It was a slam dunk case of murder. Good people of Texas, I’m sorry, but your collective heads are up your collective asses if you think that pardoning this monster is serving justice.

This is an invitation to murder across the entire state, as long as you kill the right ones.

From the facts in the article, I completely agree

…. With the 25 year sentence. They’re not giving any justification for pardoning and even less for letting him carry guns again
