This would actually make sense, since the PS4 is still getting games
With an immediate back cstalogue for many gamers. But also an immediate catalogue of launch titles for those new to ps4. I wonder if its just a novelty device and steam deck or similar is the future, though.
I have a ps4 and ps5. My next console is a games pc. I’m just so sick of being nickel and dimes for things like online play, or upgrades to games I’ve already paid for.
Exclusives were never a draw for me to play a console and that strategy has gone now that all games come to PC eventually. Even Nintendo gets emulated. I wonder if Nintendo will also eventually see the light. It will take a failed product launch and poor sales of games after that to force their hand. I think Sony already see the writing on the wall. Microsoft have been trying to merge PC and console since day one.

The Wii U was kinda that. It only sold/shipped 13.5 million units. Consequently (and relatively), not many games were sold.
Nintendo doesn’t want to publish to PC because it doesn’t ship consoles. They are the only company of the big three that makes a profit on the consoles themselves. The rest sells them at a loss and tries to make up for it with software and subscription services.
Yes, but the switch was a huge success. So their hand wasn’t forced. If they see falling revenue from both consoles and games their hand will be forced is my point. You don’t profit off machines youre not selling so it is not currently their plan.
What I meant to say is, even if their product fails, their hand won’t be forced in the way you’d like. What happened was the Switch, instead of PC ports.
Don’t care, won’t buy it, screw Sony for so many reasons over at least the last 13 years.
