TC Electronic has introduced a line of amp-in-box pedals targeting vintage classics from the big 3: Dream 65 (Fender Deluxe) , DC30 (Vox AC30), and Jims 45 (JTM45). They’re $150 so very affordable, but that comes at the cost of features like true stereo and MIDI.
We all love a great vintage guitar amp, but what makes it unique? The sonic flavour, or how it looks and feels? It’s a personal matter, and we found that, in most cases, it’s a combination of things that ignites their vintage vibes.
So, we covered all bases when we set out to recreate three classic vintage amps from scratch. Our AmpWorx technology is the sonic cornerstone, as we used it for modelling every component of the original amps. But we also teamed up with Celestion to find the perfect speaker IR match for each pedal and to preserve the look and feel. We stayed true to the intuitive control designs.
A few reviews:
Yeah, unfortunately i’m a big fan of tc’ stuff… if they’ll ever make a modern series i’ll probably try one out… i sincerely hope in a 5150/6505 model
Having a headphone output is a big feature that a lot of these amp sim pedals leave out. I’m not in the market for one of these but if I was I’d definitely give these a look.
At these prices it’s not a big deal that they’re mono as you could pick up any two for either the same or less as the stereo options like Strymon and the UA line.
