It’s incredible. A game released in 2007, that still has active players and servers. If Valve did abandon it (which is totally understandable with its age), I’m wondering if there is a cottage industry of modders selling access to better quality servers.

It just seems like wack a mole, since Valve did spend resources to fix things in 2022.

TF2 is iconic and has a loyal fan base, it would be a smart move for Valve to at least listen to their fans/customers.

Support for TF2 would be undertaken voluntarily by developers since Valve has a flat corporate structure.

The only way you get continued support for TF2 is convincing devs to work on a crusty old legacy codebase for a game that doesn’t make anywhere near the amount of money as other games that everyone else is working on.

TF2 is iconic - Valve just doesn’t care.

I suppose, but on the other hand, it’s not like figuring out ways to mitigate bots and other attacks couldn’t benefit all their games.

Flip the script - why have they mitigated bots in other games but not TF2? Is it because the strategy doesn’t transfer or is it because the implementation doesn’t translate?

And if they haven’t mitigated bots elsewhere - why would they do it in a crusty codebase like TF2 vs somewhere shiny and new.

Most of Valves properties are iconic.

Are they cancelling TF2? I used to play Team Fortress Classic a LOT, but never got into TF2 cause they took away class grenades

Holy shit how old are you (tldr is that Valve has decided to stop touching tf2. Nothing is happening to the game, but valve won’t fix the huge spinbot problem the game has that is making casual unplayable, and people have tried a couple of times to get them to pay attention)
