Pedantically speaking, he never got in, so the curse should not have taken effect, no? Also, the scope was not defined, and their are new humans born at a faster rate than can get to the pool, so everyone’s safe! :)
It’s one of those “close enough, I don’t get paid enough for this” curses.
This sounds like it has worldbuilding potential, but I don’t get paid enough to figure it out.
