How did you assemble the STL? Freesurfer?

I had some MRIs done about a year ago that included the brain and I got so/so results out of Freesurfer. You could tell it was a brain but it still looked a little janky. Yours looks great, though!

Thanks! I used InVesalius for creating the STL of my entire head, and I used Autodesk Meshmixer to isolate my brain from all the other pieces of my head. There are better ways to do it though, I think.

cool - I’ll try to run my images through InVesalius instead. Thanks for inspiring me to give this another shot!

They should let you have the files. You paid… dearly for them.

Love the idea, I always thought of doing the same with my skull since I worked with MRI files and could probably export the file. However I never did an MRI of my head.

Would be fun to print the brain of a friend, and compare folds 🧠🧠

Nice! I did the same, but I did it on my resin printer so the full 1:1 wouldn’t fit. I ended up doing a 1/4th scale…I call him mini me lol.

Funny, I always pictured the brain a bit bigger. Maybe due to TV series and such and because I couldn’t really judge what the size would be based on the head.
It sparked a controversial question in my mind, does a bigger brain make you smarter (so big headed people could be smarter). One page I came across (which looked at least a little legit) was this: Stanford Ask a neuroscientist

I used to think the same, until I read somewhere that our brain is pretty much the size of our two fists if we put them palm-to-palm. Looking at my own hands that way is a great reminder.

Shit, I have a pea for a brain then. And yes, of course I tried it. Funny to know and indeed a great reminder.
