The orange and the blue portions need to be larger.

Do the same for telecoms now.

I wish people would act the same way about telecom like they currently are with grocery…i get beyond pissed when they come to my door to sell services when EVERY other company is legally banned from door to door sales.

Telecoms are slightly more complicated in that to do so you have to nationalize the base infrastructure and then let mvnos compete on top, there’s no economically viable way of building out 10 parallel physical telecom networks here.

Isn’t it really strange that our phone/internet infrastructure is privately owned, anyway? How many major highways can you think of that are privately owned? Maybe this is just my prairie perspective speaking, but I can’t think of any.

I will make a graph for one! I will post it in c/boycotthebigthree

You can boycott Rogers,Bell and Telus by switching to Lüm mobile, Sasktel, Freedom, Fizz, Videotron, Eastlink, Ecotel, Execulink, Ice, Nexicom, Sogetel, TBayTel, K-net mobile.

Do you have a source for the ban on the door to door sales for the smaller companies? I can’t believe we allowed our politicians to enact that.

Why’s that? Sobeys properties like Sobeys, Safeway and IGA are the only ones I’ve ever heard of in Alberta. I don’t recognize any of the loblaws chains except superstore.

Longo’s, Freshco, Farm Boy which are the same parent company as Sobeys aren’t uncommon in Toronto, maybe less than No Frills/Loblaws and Food Basics/Metro.

There are a whole lot of Safeways in Western Canada.

What does “Other” encapsulate, anyway? The only independent grocers I ever see are ethnic grocers and in my area they tend to be expensive.

Pattison Group (Saveonfoods) is another big chain in BC and Western Canada.

Round here they are Asian grocery stores and they are the only place I shop because they have reasonable meat prices and outstanding produce, compared to Loblaws metro and Sobeys

Hm, maybe I have to shop in other towns. The ones near me are Nigerian and non-descript Middle Eastern. Lots of interesting meats (can buy camel, surprisingly) but it’s not cheap.

Well at least y’all managed to keep Walmart under control. Better than the “profits at all costs” USA I know and tolerate living in.

True, I checked the us market and Walmart has 25% market share and is the largest grocer.

You gotta boycott Walmart and Sam’s Club. Name the movement “Patriots Against Walmart” haha 💕
