Fun graphic from the most recent SwissRamble (paid, so I can’t permalink) post:

Sponsorship deals of the “big six”

    A few takeaways:

    1. Basically everyone gets 50M for the shirt and 10M for the sleeve. Ignore United bankrupting Qualcomm and Teamviewer via shirt and kit sponsorships, and City getting 8M extra for the sleeve for some crypt-ic reason.
    2. We don’t show as having gotten ~10M for the training facility sponsorship, though I’m guessing SR has been researching this for a while and they may not have updated records for that. Also interesting: City have 20M for naming rights and 65M for the kit, It seems the Emirates deal isn’t broken down to that extent, but perhaps the next time we renegotiate we could squeeze a bit more money out of them this way. (or, you know, get a better sponsor, just saying…)
    3. Liverpool and Arsenal’s deals are probably what should be normal for the top team in the Prem. United I can begrudgingly say have a history of commercial dominance (and likely a lot of boardroom handjobs), but the reason for City far outstripping the lower 4 in this list is, well… obvious.
    4. I couldn’t resist inserting a jab at Sp*rs for getting next to nothing from Nike for their kit.

You know it’s bad when a second tier Chinese club has more pull and treats the coach better than a fucking national team. How the fuck did we not just let Andersen have whatever he wants he’s the most successful coach we’ve had in decades

I also have a theory that football is where most people or fans would display “unpatriotic” tendencies, make them suck to make them invisible.

Because when have HK ever really put into sports? It was only when the athletes started doing well in competition (like Siobhan, or the fencing team) that they started paying more attention. The culture is begrudgingly very clout chasing.

But would it ever amount to anything though given the system in place…most likely not.

Szczesny reportedly going to SA, guess that’s his retirement fund sorted (provided they actually pay up)

It’s sounding like at least one of Smith Rowe and Vieira will be leaving this summer. There had been a lot of chatter about other English clubs going in for ESR. But now Porto are sounding very keen on Vieira.

Personally, if we have to lose one or the other, I’d prefer to lose Vieira. He’s a very gifted player, but I don’t think physically he’s a good fit for the PL. It’s not his height (there have been plenty of shorter players who have excelled in the PL - Zola, Foden, Sterling, and our own Santi Cazorla). It’s more that he looks like a mild breeze would knock him over.

Same, but different reason. Fabio somehow is trusted even less than Emile, and there have been reports that Arteta hasn’t been impressed with Fabio in training (which is a bit of a death knell in this current Arsenal iteration).

I do think they were overly cautious with ESR after his injuries, us crashing out of tournaments don’t really help with increasing his game time either. I hope he doesn’t leave, but at the same time he deserves to further his career if Arsenal can’t give him the opportunity

Coldest take ever but Emile was so unlucky as well this season with the few minutes he got. I can’t help but think he’d be more willing to stay if he’d just scored one goal after coming back from his groin injury, just to prove to himself that it can happen.

As you say, the last thing I want is for him to rot on the bench. And we’ve already done the loan thing, so he probably won’t agree to do it again.

Unlucky certainly is it, he did look good when he came on. But is it good enough in Mikel’s eyes?

Obviously there’s no way to tell, but it seemed like a lot of the problem MIkel had with him was in regards to training, and that seems to have largely resolved itself in the latter half of the season - it’s just that by that point we were firmly locked into a title race.

He was so damned unlucky with some of his shots on his return too.

0.13 xG per shot would be 6th best for this season, albeit with a very small sample size. If we lose him, we’ll always wonder what if…
