    The blue color was used to differentiate raspberry-flavored foods from cherry-, watermelon-, and strawberry-flavored foods, each of which is red.

      I also read, and may add to this article that amaranth (Red No. 2) was usually used to color raspberry stuff, but was banned as a carcinogen (somewhat controversially), leading them to pivot to blue
