I’ve lost count personally. Curious as to what other’s experiences have been.

Years ago, when my first kid was about 2, a lady nearly ran us both over while backing up and not looking. She actually hit me, and I had to sit on her SUV’s back bumper while holding my kid in the air by the arm. Should have pursued charges, but I honestly just wanted to get out of there a.s.a.p. She wasn’t even going to stop and check afterwards, but I kicked her back window several times and made her get out. I’d love to see all cars dissappear and be replaced with public transit.

Literally last night I was out running and had to stop dead in my tracks as a driver took a right turn without looking. Always make sure you get eye contact with a driver if you’re not sure they’re paying attention.

Twice in roughly 38 years. Both my fault: riding a bicycle in the dark without light and in front of a car who couldn’t see mee and once as a 12-year old racing into an intersection where the car clearly had the right of way (it hit me and was legally at fault since that is how it works here; my parents made me go to their house afterwards to apologise).

    I’ve been hit twice!

First time, I was standing with two feet on the ground at a stop sign on the right side of the road where bicycles usually travel. A driver made a left turn and turned into the wrong side of the road where I was standing. I went up onto the hood and was launched when the car stopped. Thankfully I wore a helmet :)

Second time I was riding along in the periphery of the door zone and an open parking space came up on my right. A driver on my left, riding along with me, wanted to park in the space and hit me. This one was minor, I was more upset than anything.

Nearly hit a few more times

I’ve been actually hit twice by drivers that didn’t look right before turning into a lane going right. They looked left for cars, but never bothered to look right again before going. Both times were minor and I wasn’t hurt, but I was pissed off as I was on the sidewalk both times it happened.

Was shoved into the sidewalk by the city bus 20 years ago. Haven’t been hit since cause I’ll stay on the sidewalk. Laws be damned.

Twice on a bike. Lucky enough to have biked away from one, walked away from the other. Neither driver stuck around.

So many near misses. Been hit once on a roundabout. Thankfully walked away from that one unscathed. The driver paid for the damages to my bike.

One lady hit me and got my bike lodged in her car. She then continued to stare me down and slowly drive forward, dragging me with her…

I got free from her within like 30 seconds but it was so scary

Some type of near miss at least once a week, mostly in the form of people turning without looking properly.

Lost count on the very first week as a cyclist. I used to teach a little more than 10km away from home, and I often had to take the “heavy duty” main streets, full of trucks and the like. I’ve been a few inches from dying so much I got kinda jaded at some point. Thankfully, the few times I’ve been hit was in slow streets, nothing major.

Now that I’ve been riding less I look back and ask how the hell was I able to not lose balance and get my arm ripped from my shoulder.

Been hit once, lots of near misses. Luckily no major injuries. It sucks though, and has a huge chilling effect on getting people to bike.
