Isn’t “it’s not a tree it’s a [name plant type] that looks like a tree” true for most trees?

True. “Tree” is not a compact category that encompasses all examples whilst excluding things that aren’t trees, not rather a vibe about whether something feels tree-like. Palm trees, for example, are not the same sort of organism as oaks.

Black holes are not merely dense objects, the word hole may actually be a slightly better description. This chart oversimplifies stuff and is quite lame.

The reason why medieval stained glass windows are thicker on the bottom is a deliberate choice to make the party which would bear the weight of the windows stronger.

Could you give sources for each claim? Otherwise I just have to trust you, instead of the original place I heard the myth. Not much more reliable.

Chastity belts: Invented by prudes in the 19th century to prevent ‘dangerous’ masturbation.

And now repurposed by horndogs who want to get hornier.

Except cows can see colour. They only have 2 types of colour receptors in their eyes, compared to humans 3, (missing the red one, from what I gather with 30 sec of googling?) so their colour vision is much more limited compared to ours, but they are not colour blind.

Sure, but it seems odd to be picky on the use of the word “tree” to refer to the banana tree rather than a herb, but then make the general statement that cows are “colour blind” when they can actually see colour.

aside from the issues that other commenters have addressed, I think the titles are too short to accurately describe the subject matter

I can see what they were going for but the titles do not match the paragraphs well enough for me

misleading titles, for things presented as myths, (with corrections in parenthesis):

    • Multiple personalities (exists as MPD)
    • The Vomitorium (exists)
    • Black holes (exists)
    • Different tongue parts (exists)
    • Left & right brain (exists)
    • Evolution is a ‘theory’ (true)

    I’d write these as:

    • Schizophrenia does/should not mean multiple personalities
    • People did not vomit in vomitoriums
    • Black holes are not literal holes*
    • The tongue does not taste in distinct places
    • Both brain hemispheres can learn the same functions/talents
    • Evolution matches our current data the best; scientific theories are not just conjecture**

*I don’t think this is really correct either, but that is an issue outside of the scope of just the titles

**I am not too confident on this rewrite, I’m not sure I could make it short and have good quality, but you could go with either side of the semicolon for a shorter single title

There were other issues I had with the titles, but I felt that I was too unsure about them to present them here

Oil does help pasta not stick together. Ya just gotta ice shock the pasta THEN add a bit of olive oil and give it a toss. I think the misconception comes from adding oil to the water.

Source: 20 years in service industry. I wouldn’t even want to know the tonnage of pasta I have served through the years…

E: the oil thing is for bulk pasta. I’m gonna cook off a couple pounds and portion them out for when I need exactly 6 or 10 ounces of pasta for a dish. Throw the portion in a pasta caulinder to quick heat it up and toss in whichever sauce/dish I have prepared.

Pretty cool, definitely cleared up a few for me, but … nobody knows what happens in a black hole, they are a big warp in spacetime, and it’s mathematically possible that they lead to a different part of the universe or contain an ~infinite amount of space that you could live in. See supermassive black holes, einstien-rosen bridge, or the nobel work of Penrose. But yes they are created due to density

LGBTQ people are not groomers or pedophiles despite the harmful myths spread by conservatives. There is no evidence, be it in the Bible or elsewhere, to support thier claims.
