    It’s not really clear what the difference is between CSODIMM and CUDIMM. Why do we need two emerging standards?

    I wonder what the impact of using “clocked memory” is on heat and power consumption.

      One is for laptop (CSODIMM) the other is for desktop (CUDIMM)

        Makes sense. Should have have figured it out as if you remove the “C” from CSODIMM, you get SODIMM.

        Sounds like on laptops we will have LPCAMM2 (for thin and light) and CSODIMM and CAMM2 for larger laptops. While on desktop we’ll have CUDIMM and occasionally CAMM2 (or same later revision that doesn’t require screws).

        I have a feeling this will have a negative impact on prices, but maybe I overestimating the market impact of the segment of the market that buys RAM at retail.
