Massachusetts 911 outage determined to have been the result of a firewall safety feature meant to provide protection against cyberattacks and hacking, but was instead blocking the 911 calls themselves.

While the whole thing was pretty ridiculous, I think it showed the value of the emergency broadcast system. I felt informed and up to date.
It definitely made me feel for 911 operators that they had to say “please don’t make test calls to 911”
