Hello everyone. Welcome to the community’s first pinned post! 📌

I’m thinking of doing weekly/regularly cycling pins for casual discussion on the topic of transportation in Malaysia, to get the wheels spinning.

A few topic ideas off the top of my head:

  • sharing good/bad personal experiences/confessions with regards to taking the various modes of transport
  • tips, tricks, and lifehacks for the various modes of transport
  • off the beaten paths to take and explore
  • ideas on improving modal choice (i.e. access to transportation modes that isn’t cars)
  • nerding out on transport modes and lines you wish exists, alternative transit diagrams, etc.
  • transportation history/future
  • comparisons with other countries
  • universal access

Topic ideas welcomed, here and on all subsequent meta-posts. Full-feature posts on such topics even more so! 😆👍‍

Thank you.

Don’t really have any particular ideas but are there channels like Not Just Bikes but Malaysia-based?

I wish there is, but there’s not much to show here, it feels like.

Glad to see another orange pilled person here though. 🤝

Man, hopefully someone can do that kind of channel especially to appeal with non-English speakers here. Thought of doing it myself but not a big camera guy nor do I have the time for it and also my knowledge is pretty shallow still.

i like the general tips and tricks thread, and of course announcements/driveby posts when LRT/KTM/bus services are down. Those are useful!

If somebody can help me with that, that’d be much appreciated. 😬

i know it’s technically transport, but car in a transport community sounds like some Grab Rideshare hahaha or some car rental corner of the transport community.

roads and highways can la, since public transport uses them too.

car peeps can make their own community. 😒

Hmm, so is your idea of this community is transport excluding car? Sorry i’m not too clear about that 😆

        Let see:

        • public transport general question(eg: what line to use to get from point a to point b, schedule of public transport, etc etc)
        • touristy place that can be accessed via public transport
        • sightseeing route recommendation(maybe sort of like for roadtrip, or maybe new alternative route to take with better view)(same as “off the beaten path to take and explore”?)
        • cyclists talk(place for bicycle enthusiast to talk about cycling stuff, eg: bicycle, shop recommendation, equipment, advice, diagnosis and repair, cycling route, etc etc)
        • ebike(place to talk about and discuss all thing ebike, including electric motorcycle)
        • a general thread for everything

        That’s all i have 😅

I may have a hidden urbanist agenda 🙊

But yes, I want the community to focus away from cars as the default mode. I want to plant the idea that it doesn’t have to be just cars everywhere.

I am an urbanism fan too. Maybe we can talk about how towns and cities are designed for better living too. It is closely tied to transportation 😊

Insteads of just complaints, perhaps we can try some things we like about our public transportation, or what we think they did right, despite their shortcomings.

I think having a weekly general thread + a topical thread would be a well-balanced approach.

I’m going to call it the weekly PTSD thread, with PTSD = public transit stories & discussions.

The weekly topic would be either combined with the weekly thread or a separate thread. What do you guys think?
