6 man rotation? Spot starter? Long relief?

If Manoah’s really back to some semblance of his old self I don’t think there’s a spot in a 5 man rotation for Ryu and I really don’t see him coming out of the pen.

It’s a good problem to have at least. I think they may go with a 6 man rotation for a bit, assuming gausman is ok and makes his next start. Otherwise it’s “convenient” that gaus has an injury and could be placed on the IL as the corresponding move. It’d be a week from tonight he’d likely need a spot back on the active roster. One more rehab start Thursday to get his pitch count up, then the usual 4 days of rest.

Great question! I also think getting Ryu back means we go to a 6-man rotation, at least temporarily. I feel like our rotation has logged serious innings so far, including when Manoah went down for a month. I think the game plan will be to lighten the load for the rotation a bit buy adding a 6th man. Plus, we know Gaussman likes and pitches better with an extra day of rest
