My second date with my wife I suggested on the phone we go check out a new restaurant by my apartment that had food from her native country she said “it’s fine, save your money. I will just go to your place and cook”. She did and I helped. That was 15 years ago.

Mentioned this story to many people over the years she always blushes.

Marry somebody so you can move into their apartment with a washer-dryer? Perfectly plausible in any big city

So you let him spend his quarters when you could have just done his laundry for him?

…well I guess a first date isn’t really the best time to invite a stranger to pile their crusty socks in your personal washing machine. Ok point retracted

“I did something I didn’t have to because I wanted an excuse to say yes to going on a date with you. :3”

This is my take as well. She wanted to go on the date with him and he later realized it. Not sure if there’s meant to be a joke, to me this is a wholesome tweet.

The joke is that from the flip side maybe he just married her for her washer and dryer. I’m not saying it’s a good joke, but I don’t think it’s bad enough to merit that many downvotes 🤷🏻‍♂️
