Horner replied: “It all happened a little quicker than expected, bearing in mind that we hadn’t completed the test.

“Helmut spoke with Nyck and, you know, he was the one that obviously had recruited him. He was the one that spoke with Nyck about lap 11 of the test, I think.”

As a driver, is there anything more terrifying than an out-of-the-blue phone call from Helmut Marko?

Hilarious that they put Daniel in the car, 10 laps later Helmut is pulling out the l phone and lap 11 Nyck is fired. God these guys are brutal

It’s still wild to me how he got hired in the first place. At least the firing matched, I suppose? So brutal though, Helmut sounds like he literally made these decisions in real time, which seems so nutso to me in the world of data that is F1.

Nyck was a stop gap after Gasly left. Likely hopeful they could use his experience for car development. But he was never going to have a long term at the team.

Gotta feel bad for Nyck, especially considering Christian said “If we’ve got to do something, we might as well get on with it and give Daniel 12 races to see what he’s capable of.”

Bummer for him that Daniel gets 12 races to see what he’s capable of but Nyck only got 10

Daniel has 8 wins and lots of podiums, nyck could barely keep it on track and never pulled it close to points
