Donald J. Trump’s lawyers want to argue that a Supreme Court decision giving presidents immunity for official acts should void his felony conviction for covering up hush money paid to a porn star.

It just makes zero sense. In what way was lying on your taxes to hide the payment an “official act” as president

The upside? Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is only willing to delay Trump’s sentencing for two weeks Judge Juan M. Merchan agrees to postpone Trump’s sentencing until September. If Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is still successful in sentencing Trump, it will eliminate an avenue for Trump to appeal, and it will allow a judge to gauge how the latest Supreme Court ruling applies.

The downside? The United States has demonstrably and repeatedly failed to bring to justice the extremely wealthy and powerful. Conservative activists have successfully infiltrated the highest levels of the court, overturned decades of precedence, granted unprecedented power to the Presidency, and given Trump an out from his crimes.

Edit: apparently, the two weeks didn’t pan out. Now, we will need to wait until September.
