Write that shit down. I know it feels wrong spending the energy and possibly waking yourself up more but you will always remember your genus ideas that your idiot brain rather think about than sleep.

Sleepy brain is weird. I’m a programmer that also writes music. I learned a long time ago that when I write music when I’m half asleep, if I wake myself up and write it down, it’s already a song that exists, I just didn’t recognize it when I was half asleep. But I can absolutely solve my programming problems while half asleep. I have even solved them in my dreams before. If I get up and write down my idea, or even just my new perspective, I can turn it into code later and it will work (usually).

This also applies to the shower. As soon as you get out - pftt - complete blank.

Some people think that people who seem to get their stride later are actually just super early morning people. Also potentially theories around biphasal sleep.

I sleep multiple times a day, but not by will. It’s my body’s natural state. At work I’ll just setup my afternoon tasks in the morning, and since I work from home, I can then nap. I wake up and am fully ready to go.

I got nothing done yesterday morning, but in the afternoon I knocked out 4 JIRAs in under 3 hours. Nothing majorly complex, but I just can’t get my brain going in that mindset until the afternoon.

It’s important to let your brain relax and come up with more creative solutions :)
