“I know that President Biden and his team have been true public servants and have put the country and the best interests of democracy first and foremost in their considerations," Sherrill said. "And because I know President Biden cares deeply about the future of our country, I am asking that he declare that he won’t run for reelection and will help lead us through a process toward a new nominee.”

New Jersey has no problem with corrupt politicians accepting gold bars as bribes, but supporting someone who can’t stay up past Wheel of Fortune is a bridge too far.

If he drops out, he needs to do it asap. Whoever steps up is going to have to play catch up with their campaign as it is.

He will drop out after the convention. He needs to be nominated so that he can pick Kamala to replace him. If he drops out before, he wouldn’t get to pick.

How is that easier? Once he nominated, it will be his name appearing on ballots. Are you proposing he instruct his pledged EC electors to vote Harris/$NAME instead of Biden/Harris? That might run afoul of Faithless Elector laws in some states.

You’re absolutely correct on the faithless electors laws. Even if they would be ruled unconstitutional in court, there’s simply not enough time to deal with that shit before the election. And I don’t see that kind of clown show improving our chances.

None of this is even possible unless an alternative is identified that wants to run (hasn’t happened) and Biden chooses to step aside (hasn’t happened).

I don’t know where some of these people are getting these fairy tales about Biden showing up to the convention and saying “okay guys, I’m out. You’ve got 4 days or whatever to figure it out.”

Putin’s chaos unit is outdoing themselves this election. And apparently the NYT are playing on Putin’s team this time too.

The Republicans can get together behind a convicted rapist and fraudster with his own dementia and age issues, because they are capable of voting as a fucking block. As Democrats, we have to be able to do that too by ALL showing up at the polls and voting Biden. It’s not rocket science! At 55% voter turnout, Trump wins. At 60%, Biden wins, but barely. At 65% voter turn out, he wins by a wide margin. FFS, just show up and vote.

The man has been running the country successfully for 3.5 years so far and worst case, Kamela takes over mid-season. And since she’s the only candidate that could access the election fund and she’s already on the ticket, what even is the point of these idiots trying to change horses mid-stream because they can’t see the big picture and stick with a plan? Argh, this makes me so mad…

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Rep. Mikie Sherrill, D-N.J., called on President Joe Biden to end his re-election bid after a meeting Tuesday morning with fellow House Democrats on the 2024 race.

The New Jersey lawmaker said in a statement that “the stakes are too high — and the threat is too real — to stay silent,” and that Biden should redirect his efforts toward identifying a new Democratic nominee.

The Biden campaign did not immediately provide a comment on Sherrill’s statement.

    Please check back for updates.

The blame when Biden loses. “He lost because the squad/progressives talked bad about him!” By saying they’re with Biden now, they can’t be blamed for his loss.
