What game and platform would you show them and why?

Keep in mind, this person’s only experience with games would be arcade machines.

Superhot on any VR system. It was the most insane gaming experience I’ve ever had, I can’t imagine what someone from the past would think.

1991, Arcade, The Simpsons. Because I miss that experience so much!

Really though, I’d pick the PS2 and God of War. It’s easy enough on the controls, the theatrics and scale are still super impressive, and everyone feels awesome chopping up hoards of stuff.

    What about you, OP?

VR headset with Half Life Alyx, I assume they’d have seen movies like the original Tron so they’d already have some conception of virtual reality but seeing them interact with VR integrated and as a fully fledged gaming product would make for some interested reactions at least.

If I have time to have them play the whole game (or at least the main story) I would probably have them play Red Dead Redemption 2. It’s a beautiful game with great mechanics, but most importantly I think it may be the most well told story in a video game ever.

The platform matters less to me in this case, but probably a really good PC so I can crank the textures and get some ray tracing going.

The SteamDeck, you can take it with you anywhere and it’s a computer that trumps anything they’d have even imagined. as for the game, Honestly I think something like modded Minecraft, something with a vast open world for sure
