Careful, they tried decriminalization (of all drugs) in Oregon, but they neglected to put any money into the treatment part
The whole thing blew up, and now everyone thinks decriminalization was the mistake
God it’s so annoying seeing them half-ass something and then complain that it doesn’t work. It doesn’t work because you didn’t make it work when it could have if there was some effort.
Oh come on! We were this close to criminalization working! You’re gonna throw away all that progress over some hokey, unproven system like treatment and put all of our good Boys in Blue out of work?
Damn, too bad they couldn’t have done this before chevron was overruled. Now if treatment works, the private prisons will sue and win because treatment wasn’t something that congress specifically contemplated when drafting drug laws.
